Rule of Thirds was started by photographer Colin Cant, who lives in Aberdeenshire, to provide photographic services, photographs either as prints or high resolution digital images suitable for publication. Rule of Thirds also supplies an extensive range of stock photographs to agency www.alamy.com

Rule of Thirds offers varied services to both the professional and amateur photographer. Our primary service is to provide high resolution scans from either 35mm negatives or slides, as well as XPan and APS format film, to a resolution and standard suitable for publication purposes. We use a dedicated film scanner for film and a flatbed scanner for photographs. The resulting scans are capable of being used for prints up to A3+ at a print resolution of 4800x1200 dpi from images with minimum resolution of 300dpi at this size. We are also able to produce up to billboard size images using professional interpolation software.

Scanning service is offered at resolution up to 4000ppi with options for cleaning, dust removal etc. Our prices start from 50p per scan, all slide and negative scan options are priced on the attached order form. Please contact us for further image services you may require, restoration, colour correction, cropping etc.

Rule of Thirds relies on the quality and reliability of the Canon EOS for its photographic equipment and Canon professional scanning and printing equipment for all its picture processing.

Photographs are taken using either an EOS 5 or the digital EOS 10D, utilising lenses ranging from wide angle zoom through to the Image Stabilised 100-400L telephoto zoom.

Scanning of slides / negatives / APS cartridges is via the FS4000US dedicated film scanner capable of scans up to 4000ppi.

Printing is via the Canon i9100 capable of a maximum resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi at sizes up to A3+, prints are output to Olmec satin paper and mounted using Bainbridge mount card
